Knowledge stores UTF-8 Markdown files. You can open exported or synchronized files in an ordinary text editor.

Common syntax

The formatted reader and editor support GitHub-style Markdown and several Obsidian-compatible forms, including wikilinks, note embeds, callouts, Mermaid diagrams, and math. They are not a full Obsidian plugin runtime.

Frontmatter

You can put YAML metadata at the beginning of a document:
Invalid frontmatter does not prevent saving the Markdown. The app shows a warning, and invalid metadata cannot be used reliably in derived filters. Correct the YAML in Source to clear the issue.

Images, audio, and video

Use supported HTTPS URLs for remote media. The app sanitizes URLs, and raw HTML is displayed as inert text. A media URL can stop working if its host removes the asset or changes access. Binary attachments are not synchronized as vault files. Source conversion saves extracted Markdown, not the original PDF, photo, or other binary. Keep originals in an appropriate source system and preserve links where useful.

Portability and limits

Accepted Markdown bytes are retained without server-side rewriting of line endings or whitespace. Web edits preserve the existing BOM and predominant line-ending style; new web files use UTF-8 with LF. Each Markdown body must fit within 1,900,000 UTF-8 bytes.
