# Keyboard shortcuts

> Navigate the tree and edit Markdown with fewer clicks.

Use **Command** on macOS and **Ctrl** on Windows or Linux for the modifier
below. Open the in-app shortcut list with Command/Ctrl+/.

| Shortcut | Action |
| ------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------- |
| Command/Ctrl+/ | Show keyboard shortcuts. |
| Command/Ctrl+E | Enter document editing when permitted. |
| Command/Ctrl+S | Save the current edit. |
| Command/Ctrl+K | Link selected text. |
| Command/Ctrl+B | Bold selected text in Source. |
| Command/Ctrl+I | Italicize selected text in Source. |
| Command/Ctrl+F | Find in Source. |
| `/` | Open slash commands in Formatted editing. |
| Up / Down in the tree | Move between visible rows. |
| Left / Right in the tree | Collapse or expand. |
| Enter in the tree | Open a file. |
| Home / End in the tree | Jump to the first or last item. |
| Up / Down in the document pane | Scroll when the pane is focused. |
| Page Up / Page Down | Scroll the focused document by a page. |
| Home / End in the document pane | Jump to top or bottom. |

Shortcuts act in the focused part of the app. Click the tree, document pane, or
source editor first. Browser or operating-system shortcuts can take precedence
in other contexts.

## Other quick interactions

Type `[[` to find a page for a wikilink. Paste an HTTPS URL over selected text
to make a link. Double-click a formatted widget to edit it.

Drag the divider beside the Knowledge tree to resize it. Double-click the
divider, or use Home while its resize control is focused, to restore its default
width.

Saving is explicit. A keyboard shortcut still requires a permitted edit and a
successful save response; inspect the error if the change cannot be accepted.
