# Northern Logic Wiki

> Give a vault a maintained index, source collection, and place for incoming knowledge.

Northern Logic Wiki is the catalog starter for a structured Markdown vault.
Apply it to an empty vault as described in [Templates](/library/templates).

## Understand the structure

| Item        | Purpose                                                         |
| ----------- | --------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `SCHEMA.md` | Defines the vault's structure and wiki protocol.                |
| `index.md`  | Entry point for people and agents.                              |
| Log         | Records meaningful maintenance and structural changes.          |
| `inbox/`    | Holds incoming material awaiting review and filing.             |
| `sources/`  | Keeps source material and its provenance.                       |
| `archive/`  | Holds material retained outside the active knowledge structure. |

Build an organization template with additional catalog or custom folders when
needed. In a wiki vault, **+ Folder → From catalog** can add useful categories.
Keep indexes and links aligned with the resulting structure.

## Install the wiki instructions in your agent

After applying the preset, use the skills setup notice or the vault-root **Copy
skills setup prompt**. Paste the prompt into the AI tool that can work with this
vault.

The prompt points to the public wiki pack and the correct vault folder. The
agent installs its skills into the tool's skill directory. It should not put
pairing codes or credentials into the vault.

For local sync, the wiki root is the actual mounted vault: `company/`,
`personal/`, or the team vault's folder. It is not the parent knowledge root
that contains all mounts.

## Maintenance and improvement

The pack includes `nlkb`, `nlkb-wiki`, `nlkb-maintain`, and `nlkb-suggest`.
Maintenance handles incoming material and mechanical checks; suggestions propose
improvements for review.

The setup prompt asks your harness to schedule maintenance nightly and
suggestions weekly. That schedule belongs to the harness. Northern Logic does
not host the job or execute the skills. Confirm the schedule in the tool that
will run it.

Before a maintenance run, confirm the tool can access the intended vault and
that its replica is healthy. Review resulting changes through Activity and
Search.
