# I cannot edit a page

> Distinguish membership, vault roles, and connection permissions.

1. **Confirm the workspace and vault.** A page with the same name elsewhere can
have different access. Open the actual page in Knowledge, rather than a
   read-only share link.
2. **Ask a vault admin to check your role.** Viewer reads; Editor and Vault
admin can edit. New workspace members normally start as Company Viewers.
Workspace membership alone does not give editing access to every vault.
3. **Check whether the action needs more permission.** Share-link management
requires Vault admin. Inviting people or creating groups needs administrative
permission and a supported plan. Do not grant workspace Admin merely to allow
   page editing.
4. **If only the agent fails, check its connection.** Verify the connection
owner, selected vaults, and write grants or sync policy. Your browser
permission does not prove that endpoint may write.
5. **If access still looks wrong, check all grants.** Group membership can
supply stronger access than a direct grant. Owners/admins administer shared
vaults but do not automatically receive personal-vault access.

**Resolved when:** an authorized user can save a small agreed change and reopen
it. For a tool, verify the accepted change in Activity. If the save reports a
competing edit, use [Conflicts](/knowledge/conflicts) instead of repeatedly
resubmitting.
