# App overview

> A guide to every customer-facing area of the app.

Use the left navigation to move between features. Collapse it for more document
space; expand it to show labels. The workspace selector in the header changes
the active organization.

Controls depend on your role, plan, and the selected item. **Conflicts** appears
in the navigation when there are open conflicts or you are already on that
screen. **Admin** is hidden from ordinary members.

## Inside Knowledge

Choose a vault, then a folder or file in its tree. A file opens in **Formatted**
or **Source** view. Select **Edit** to make changes and **Save** to publish a
revision.

The right sidebar has **Overview**, which lists headings, and **Activity**,
which shows the paper trail. On narrower windows the heading outline moves above
the document. Drag the tree divider to adjust its width; double-click the
divider to reset it.

At the bottom of the main navigation, change the color theme, get the desktop
app, or open your account menu. The header also provides quick actions and
keyboard-shortcut help.
